August 2011: Summer Camp, Barge Shipment, and Unpacking!

Still trying to catch up with our blog pictures! Below pictures are from the month of August.

Maegan and friend Ella (center, in purple), at summer camp, walking to the marina for a catamaran ride!

This week the Islander really does have our "pack out" aboard.

Getting ready to unload! Now we get to wait several days for the delivery call.

Misty's going to miss this island furniture!
Puppies love to chew on wood.

Mason's room.

Crew unloading one of our crates.

Mason sitting among (and atop) our boxes...searching for his toys!

Carrie's happy to find her vacuum!

Sleep Number bed arrived...finally a good night's sleep!

Mason enjoying his toys!

How many times did we hear the expression "It's just like Christmas!", referring to finally receiving our goods. Gus agrees.

Pests, Friends, Sharks and Mojitos (no particular order!)

More pictures of our new life on Kwaj!

Maegan and new friend Ella, relaxing after a great dinner.  The Martindale's invited us over for some Mexican (Kwaj style).  It was delicious.
The ship Merry Seas in our harbor for repairs.
Baby rat caught in the non-toxic "child and pet safe" trap set by island pest control...their body sticks and they can't run away. Nothing like finding a live rat in your pantry!

Lindsay & Adam Vail, enjoying a mojito on their back patio! They arrived from Antarctica on the same flight as our family, and live nearby. In fact, in the case of hurricane we are assigned to *run* to their quarters, which is a townhouse with an upstairs (we are in single-story family housing).
Carrie enjoying a couple of mojitos...

Another rainstorm...
Locals caught a marlin! Gus took us down to the marina to watch the friendly nurse sharks, who wait below.
Nurse sharks patiently waiting for the leftovers...

Feeding frenzy!
How many can you count? A few black-tip sharks were there, too.

Not sure what happens with the head, but it was saved on ice.
Mason's not too sure about going back into the water after watching this!
Gus wishing he had some fresh seafood!
Misty Moonlight, up close and personal.
